2008, Jul 12: Our neighborhood block party

What a party! 2 years ago, D & I hosted a neighborhood party, we had such a great turnout that we decided to have another one this year. Living in the cul de sac with some great neighbors is a BIG bonus. I sent flyers to our 6 neighbors asking them if they were interested in hosting a party, then we agreed on a date to host a party. I then sent out flyers to our neighbors up the street and invited them to come. Lo'n behold, we had about 50-70 people show up to our event! Our neighbor across the street (Robert, Clarissa & Cloey) brought out their bounce house for all the kids to play - thanks guys!
The boys brought out their grills, Robert brought the Wheat Ale pony keg from Silver Peak, Mike & Becke made Asian food (sake bombs & dumplings), Jeff made chicken fajitas & tri tip, D & I (w/ the help of D's mom, Jenny & stepdad John) grilled bbq drumsticks, seasoned chicken wings, burgers from wolfpack meats, and dogs n sausages. We asked everyone else to bring a potluck dish to share with everyone.
We had a cornhole aka "bags" tournament. We had each person pay $5.00 into the tournament. "bags" is a like horseshoes except you throw bags full of corn kernels into a box with a hole in it (SEE PHOTO). Thanks to Don & Matt, we had 24 teams enter the bags tournament. The tournament started at 7 pm and lasted until about 10:30 pm. 1st place was Matt & neighbor Mike T, 2nd place, John & Jay, 3rd place Mark & neighbor Justin. Great job guys!
What a fun night, I think the consensus is to host another one next year. stay tuned!

2008, Jul 4: South Tahoe Celebration

Happy 4th of July and happy belated to Mandy!
My gf Mandy came into town from Vegas. She was originally from Reno but moved down to Vegas for a new job opportunity. 6 months ago, we agreed to go back up to Tahoe for 4th of July. We went to NV beach and stayed in South Tahoe for the night. We stayed at a cheapy motel for $80 a night. That's a great deal considering all the major hotels charged $200 a night! We walked over to Harvey's and watched the fireworks and headed to Cabo Wabo for a night of dancing & drinking. Well let's say we did some drinking but no dancing. No one was really in the mood to dance. In fact, D & I went back to our motel at about midnight. I hate to say this but I think D & I are getting "old".
