2007, Jan 27: Snowshoeing in our backyard

Ok, so we weren't really snowshoeing in our backyard. We went snowshoeing within 5 minutes from our house. We live a short distance from the Truckee River and by the Patagonia outlet. There is a trail behind the Patagonia outlet that leads up to the hills & mts (SEE PICTURE). I just bought a pair of snowshoes and we went on our merry way. We s'shoed for about 1-2 hrs before the 50-100 mph winds started kicking in. What a great way to burn calories, huh? We're looking forward to s'shoeing again.

2007, Jan 26: Friends

It was a Saturday night at the Sierra Tap House. A great get-together with friends.

2008, Jan 12: Snowboarding at Sugarbowl Ski Resort

I'm bummed that I don't have a picture to show you. I brought the camera, just forgot to pull it out of from my ski pants.
We went to Sugarbowl Ski Resort with D's friends. I'm still learning so I took a private lesson. I highly recommend you book a 2 hour lesson instead of 1 hour. 1 hour zooms by way too fast - I felt like I paid $110 for 30 minutes to board. I came out of the lesson with some key pointers which helped me for the rest of the day on the blue runs. The instructor suggested that I go boardin at least 2x a month this year in order to get better. well, i guess you'll be hearing more stories of boardin in the next upcoming months. stay tuned!

2008, Jan 5: Snow at our House!

My oh My! yes, lots of snow. We rec'd about 6 inches of snow in our front/backyard on Friday -Saturday morning! Reports of storms to continue to next Tuesday with up to 9 ft of snow in the mts. Blizzard warnings that roads were being closed, snow chains required, power outages.
D was salivating and wanted to go snowboarding so bad - and yes, he fufilled his passion 2x over the weekend. He went boarding at Diamond Peak & Mt. Rose. Meanwhile, I hibernated inside, drank hot tea and watched the tube.... ah what a relaxing weekend!

2007: End of a chapter

D & I did some traveling before the end of the year. We flew to Seattle to visit his steparents. It was more like... flew into Seattle, took the ferry for 1/2 hr, then drove for another 45 minutes to a tiny town called Port Ludlow. We had a great time, they served homemade Italian food, taco & margarita nights, bread, cheese & capicolla & TONS OF WINE! I had my very 1st stocking to open - what a surprise! Thereafter, we flew to Vegas to visit my family. Yes, we were crazy, we visited 2 families in 1 week! We spent time with friends, my mom, dad & little niece - she's sooo adorable! Of course, we stuffed our face with yummy homemade chinese food cooked by my dad - homemade Peking Duck (Doug's favorite), Doug visited Lake Mead for the very 1st time. We had yummy Chinese dim sum twice in 1 weekend! We were glad to be back in Reno just in time for New Years! End of the year and a new one beginning. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
